Mariners’ Class

The Mariners’ Sunday School Class came together prior to 1959-1960 when three couples, at the urging of Associate Pastor Carl Bennett, were asked it they would be willing to start a new class.

The Mariners’ Class is currently comprised of approximately eighty members ranging from fifty-five to eighty-five years of age. Many have been active in various ways in the life of First Church for forty years, and many others are new to our church.

For nearly two years our studies have been centered on “The Present Word” – International Bible Lessons for Christian Teaching, including an adult leader’s guide and adult students’ books with Biblical scriptures and structured reading. Evidenced in each class is lively and energetic discussion on the assigned studies during and following the initial presentation.

Mariners also celebrate life together in fellowship with a number of social events during the year. Any event held by the Church will find a strong Mariners’ presence.

We welcome you to participate in a dynamic experience as we search the scriptures and our hearts to better know and serve Jesus Christ.
